for more Zzzzzzz’s 6:34:46; M wakes up from her nap 7:14:37 & squees, M
squees again as the IR light goes off 7:17:33, the squees get louder 7:23:18.
S/C #1 D lands on LB w/twiggy stick 7:23:22 & M gets up 7:23:27 (still
squeeing), M out BSD 7:23:55; the twiggy stick gets stuck as D hops down the LB
7:24:06 & heads for the bole, he checks his eggs & snuggles down
7:24:38; D gets part way up & repositions 7:26:00; D up for egg duty
7:38:18 & 7:55:37; little bird flits around & gets D's attention
8:08:35; egg duty 8:09:11 & 8:37:36; S/C #2 D calls out a greeting 9:02:22,
M flies in FD w/stick 9:02:30, D stands up 9:02:33, D to RB 9:02:46, says
goodbye, flies out 9:02:57, M picks up the stick 9:03:40 and places it at the
FD 9:03:55, M rolls/fluffs 9:04:48, briefly snuggles down on the eggs 9:06:40
but gets back up to move a pinecone (ouch, lol) 9:06:52, rolls eggs 9:07:01,
snuggles down 9:07:11, repositions again 9:07:25, finally settling down on eggs
9:08:32; M up for egg duty 10:05:05, 10:27:44, M chirps then calls out 1:00:58,
D lands on LB 1:01:03 & both P's vocal as M appears to track something; M
softly chirps 1:02:07, still chirping 1:03:55, M turns to nip at one of her
wing feathers 1:04:04; then seems to watch something overhead 1:04:37 &
1:04:56, then looking all around; more chirping from M 1:06:20; S/C #3 D moves
into cam view on LB 1:10:55 resulting in more chirps from M, D walks further
down LB 1:11:12, steps to nest 1:11:50, M gets up 1:11:56, M moves away from
the eggs 1:12:09 then flies out BSD 1:12:20, D rolls eggs 1:12:42 &
shimmies down 1:12:54; D tracks something 4:02:09, D alerts 4:02:19, intruder
lands on LB & D mantles the eggs 4:02:21, D sounding the distress call
4:03:14, D rolls the eggs up under him 4:03:34 & alerts again, D firmly
settles himself on the egg 4:03:52, still chirping the alarm with his feathers
ruffled, D raises up still mantling and alerting 4:07:27 & 4:07:59, D wing
slaps 4:08:15, D settles down on eggs still chirping 4:07:48, intruder vocal on
the LB 4:09:54, D does a series of alert calls 4:11:01, 4:11:24, 4:13:03;
intruder vocal 4:14:40 & D still chirping in alarm; D goes super-sonic
sound with his alerts 4:18:37; D rolls eggs & repositions while continuing
to alert 4:20:24; D wiggles down on the eggs 4:21:18, still squeaking out
alerts; D's calls get loud 4:24:53, then he starts panting, still chirping in
alarm. [GROUND REPORT FROM BEP: There is
another eagle on the LB. Think it is about the age b3 would be.] Rustling heard
from intruder on LB 4:30:38 as D continues to alarm (and there are a lot of
"silent" alert calls being made); D vocal & intruder brief
responds 4:33:46 & 4:37:18; D does the super-sonic calls again (sort of has
an echoing sound ) 4:37:40; intruder responds to Ds call again 4:38:30 &
4:41:16 & 4:45:51; D stands up 4:52:55 & rolls the eggs, wiggles back
down 4:54:02; Dad & intruder have a sound-off & D partially wing slaps
& mantles 5:26:23; D alerts & mantles again 5:27:35; D tracks something
5:37:36; D cranks up the alert volume 5:40:12 & the intruder flaps &
yells back 5:40:19; D fully mantles & alerts 5:42:10; intruder finally flies off 5:42:02 ... and the ground crew
goes wild (whooping & cheering, assuming M came in & ran the intruder
off)! D stands up and tends to the eggs 5:46:11; D calmly rolls the eggs
5:54:36, D takes his frustration out on a pinecone 5:59:13; D tracks something
6:10:23, alerts 6:10:36, eagle flies-by behind nest 6:10:46, D calls out
6:10:52; vocals heard from nearby 6:11:33; D chirps 6:12:18; more vocals from

something 6:27:46, calls out 6:28:00; answering vocals hear 6:28:08; more
chattering from both 6:29:28; M chatters 6:31:05 and D answers; IR light on

LB 6:38:04; M, D & the intruder all vocalize 6:38:08; D stands up 6:39:14,

7:43:24 & M answers, D flies off 7:44:06, M to nest 7:44:29, uses wing for
balance 7:45:06, rolls eggs 7:45:18 & fluffs the fluff, turns in a circle,
finally snuggles down (after all the afternoon/evening) excitement 7:47:36; M
chatters w/D 8:09:46; M gets up for egg duty 10:56:22, she talks to D 10:57:22,
preens 10:58:07, PS's 11:00:15, chats w/D 11:00:26; snuggles down 11:03:34; M
calls out again 11:06:17; something gets M's attention (Rocky?) 11:14:20 &

shimmies down 5:27:14; she tucks her head 5:50:29. MORN: M still resting
6:00:00 despite the cold & wind; M up 6:49:31 for egg duty, repositions
& snuggles down 6:51:59; M calls out softly 7:15:44; M up 7:26:18 w/a
squee, spreads her wings & flaps to steady herself 7:26:27 & squees
loudly, she moves away from eggs on right talon & spreads her wings for
balance; squees 7:27:03; M slowly moves back to her eggs 7:27:20, rolls eggs,
squees, rolls eggs, fluffs 7:27:46 & shimmies down 7:28:34 squeeing the
whole time; chirps 7:29:30 & squees 7:29:36. S/C #1 – D in SD 7:29:41; M
tells him, “It’s about time!” as she gets up 7:29:48; M to LB 7:29:54 & out
7:30:00. Ground report per Bel: “After the 7:30-ish shift change, mom flew over
to her favorite perch; after about two minutes, she flew off low over the
college buildings toward garden lakes.” D egg duty 7:30:07, snuggles down
7:30:26; D up for egg duty 7:38:40; IR light off 7:39:17. Ground report per
Bel: “Just before 8 o’clock, mom flew across Garden Lake. Seemed to be scoping
it out, but she continued on and I lost her when she disappeared behind a tree.”
D egg duty 8:10:19, 8:11:48 & 8:14:56. Ground Report per Bel (circa 8:35):
“I went for a walk around the lake, and mom was perched in a back tree. After
a few minutes, she took a flight across the lake and then headed inland to
perch somewhere where I can’t see her.” D up 9:23:12, repositions &
rolls/fluffs, snuggles down 9:23:28; D up again 9:24:16 for a quick roll/fluff.
At 9:45, Bel reports that, “Mom is on her favorite perch.” D up 10:17:02 for
egg duty. S/C #2 - D up 10:33:50, flaps his wings as M lands on back rail
10:33:59 & hops to LB 10:34:00 flapping his wings & vocalizing, he
flies out FD 10:34:08. Ground Report per Bel: “Mom stayed on her favorite
perch, when she left, she circled around back behind the trees to grab a branch
to come in at shift change. That was around 10:30? When dad left, he came out
to their favorite perch, stayed about two minutes, then flew out toward the
quarry or Garden Lakes.” After making her way slowly to the eggs using her
wings for balance, M rolls/fluffs 10:35:11, snuggles down 10:37:12, but gets
right back up for another roll & some beak-plowing 10:37:21, she shimmies
down 10:38:59; M preens 11:16:57; M up 11:17:23 for egg duty; M searches the
sky & turns her head up 11:34:00, calls out & chatters big-time for the
next minute; M gets up 11:35:40 still chirping & carrying on (she looks
& sounds agitated). D lands on LB 11:36:36 & he joins M with the vocals.
Ground Report per Bel: “Had a juvenile that was circling and hovering over the
nest. As it started to circle away dad came in and landed on the tree next to
the approach cam pole. When the juvie circled back toward the nest tree, dad
flew over and landed on the left branch. After another circle, the juvie seemed
to have left the area, flying out over the entrance road and beyond the trees.”
M rolls/fluffs 11:37:46; M & D vocal again 11:39:23; D out FD 11:48:26; M
squees & gets up 11:48:52 for egg duty. Ground Report per Bel: “Dad is
currently perched in a tree to the left of the nest tree, partly hidden behind
a lot of small sticks.” S/C #3 - M up 12:09:48, she flies out the BSD 12:10:06;
D in BSD 12:10:48. Ground Report per Bel – “12:10 PM dad flew off, across the
entrance road. Dad circled back around while I was at the Krannert building.
Mom and Dad both circled for a minute per BEP, then Dad went to the nest and
Mom went to favorite perch. M flew off across the entrance road around 12:25
PM.” D rolls eggs 12:11:11; shimmies onto eggs 12:11:25; up for fluff/roll

several fluffs and rolls, she pulls some fluff around herself 1:20:32; wiggles
onto eggs 1:20:48; not quite comfy, M gets up to change position 1:21:01;
fluff/roll 1:52:18; M gets up 2:50:15; flaps wings for balance 2:50:26; using

5:56:57. MORN: M gets up 6:43:23, preens, calls out to D 6:44:36 then chirps
6:44:39; M stretches her left wing then calls out & chirps for D 6:44:45;
quick fluff, shakes head, quick preen then snuggles down 6:45:39. S/C #1 M
squees as D flies in BSD 7:23:57; M talks softly to D before getting up
7:24:35; M hops to LB 7:25:01 & out 7:25:16; D rolls/fluffs 7:25:24,

the fav perch that mom just left; M hops toward eggs 11:20:33; she rolls eggs
11:20:58; M settles onto eggs 11:22:45; Ground report from BEL: “I looked down
and then back up and dad has left. Flew out around 11:30 when I blinked, lol.” M
starts vocalizing 12:45:13; D in BSD w/coot foot 12:45:27; M says thank you but
wants to know where the rest of it is; D feeds M a bite 12:46:00; D rouses
12:46:14; M grabs the coot foot as D hops to LB 12:46:46; M swallows offering

report from Bel: “I’m back from lunch, a few minutes after 2 o’clock. Dad is
perched in the bird studio, the dead tree by the fence near their favorite
perch.” Ground report from Bel: "Dad was still on his perch when I left
just after 3:00pm." Cam 1 reset 3:21:05. M hasn’t moved since 1:04pm; M
still hasn’t moved as of 6:08:00pm; a very soggy M shakes the rain from her
head 6:08:48 & again 6:11:35; IR light on 6:12:10; M finally gets up
6:12:15; rouses & shakes her head good 6:12:28; M rolls/fluffs 6:12:48, she
shimmies down 6:14:52; M rouses 6:15:55 & gets up again to roll/fluff
6:16:03, rouses 6:16:54 & continues to fluff; M flaps her wings several
times to shed the rain 6:17:47, rouses 6:18:40 & shimmies down 6:18:55; she
shakes her head 7:03:09, preens & keeps her head tucked for some rest
7:03:18. M preens 9:44:41 & gets up 9:45:04, preens under her right wing &
chest 9:45:11, rouses 9:46:17 then more preening; M repositions slowly then
rolls/fluffs 9:46:54; M face-plants as she shimmies down 9:48:12; M up for egg

comfortably.

calls out & yawns(?) 7:08:36am, M appears to be yawning or mini-crop
dropping for the next 5 minutes, or else she has something stuck in her throat;
M calls out 7:20:15, she continues to call out periodically for the next 5
minutes & then her chirping gets louder at 7:28:57; M still calling out 7:35:40;
IR light off 7:37:27; M gets up 7:38:17, rolls the eggs 7:38:37 & fluffs
the fluff; she rolls the eggs again 7:38:57 & fluffs some more, another
roll 7:39:47; M lays back down 7:40:39; S/C #1 D in BSD w/fluff 7:44:05, M
stands up 7:44:33, hops to LB 7:44:56 & out 7:45:07, D rolls eggs 7:45:22,
wigggles down onto them 7:45:45 and starts pecking at fluff; gets up to roll
eggs 7:47:11, shimmies down 7:47:37, rolls/fluffs 8:02:55 & 8:28:07 &
8:35:03; Cam 1 reset 8:51am. S/C #2 M in FD w/stick 10:16:58, M offers D the
stick 10:17:08 but after exchanging a few "words" D hops to LB
10:17:20 & flies out 10:17:28, M moves the stick 10:18:00, rolls eggs
10:18:45 & fluffs fluff, snuggles down 10:21:56. Ground report per BEP: “Mom
was on perch when I got here. Dad came out to it at shift break and flew off
after 15 mins or so.” M up 10:23:04, she does some heavy-duty fluffing &
rolling; M snuggles down 10:25:13; M gets up 10:54:51 to fluff/roll, shimmies
back down 10:57:03; M raises up a bit 11:44:30 then shimmies down 11:44:35; M
yawns 12:17:02pm, she gets up 12:17:36 for roll/fluff duty; M grabs a nearby
stick 12:18:51 presumably to move it, but the back end is wedged in the rail
& she is unsuccessful; M spreads her left wing & carefully raises up
her left talon as she repositions herself to grab the stick again 12:19:36,
still doesn’t work; M rolls/fluffs 12:19:45, she tries to settle back down but
that dang stick is in her way 12:20:42; in between struggling w/the stick, she
dutifully checks her eggs 12:21:37; M says, “Enough of this!” and turns partially
around so the stick isn’t in her face 12:22:25, she rolls/fluffs & shimmies
down 12:22:38; M preens 12:34:03; M reacts to something she's hearing 12:46:38,
another noise 12:47:11 & M alerts by calling out 12:47:13, M squees/chirps
12:53:29 & 12:54:01, preens wing 12:54:32, resumes her soft calls 12:55:08;
M calls out 1:01:27, 1:02:18; she squees & yawns 1:02:27, & squees again
1:03:54; S/C #3 D flies behind the nest 1:11:24, M stands up 1:11:25, D in BSD
w/fluff 1:11:28, M moves away from eggs 1:11:37, M hops to LB 1:11:48 & out
FD 1:11:55, D fixes a stick on the left rail 1:12:02, D rolls eggs 1:12:22,
lays down 1:12:43; S/C #4 D rolls eggs 2:12:41 & 2:23:27; D stands up &
stretches wings 3:06:24, rolls eggs 3:06:45, he shimmies
down 3:07:47; D gets up 3:19:41, looks around then hops up to LB 3:19:58; D calls
to Mom 3:20:18 then flies out 3:20:29; M in BSD 3:20:36, she perches on back
side rail; M gives a little hop & heads toward her eggs 3:22:15, she begins
roll/fluff 3:22:45; M slowly repositions herself 3:24:04 & settles down
3:24:18, she raises up a bit, repositions & rolls eggs again 3:24:36,
shimmies down 3:24:43; M up again 3:37:27; M gets up 4:10:46 for a fluff &
roll, she shimmies down 4:13:47; M preens 4:33:56; M up 4:52:47 to gently roll
& fluff, she shimmies down 4:54:24; M tracks something 5:07:13, yells out a
brief warning 5:07:34; M chirps (sees D?) 5:16:19; D calls to M 6:06:09 & M
answers back 6:06:12; IR light on 6:08:00. M hears something 6:37:42, Rocky
appears on a back-right branch 6:37:26 & jumps to the Cam 2 branch 6:37:49
as Adrianne scurries up back branch, M wing slaps & stands up 6:47:50,
Rocky jumps off the branch 6:47:51 & Adrianne scurries away. M stands up
8:41:51, PS's 8:42:00 (it curves out toward 11 o'clock branch), does some
rolling & fluffing, another PS 8:45:32, more rolling & fluffing &
preening, rolling & fluffing, finally settling down on the eggs 8:54:38pm. M
stands up 10:43:17, scratches her head 10:43:57, small PS out the back of the
nest 10:44:16, stretches wing & foot 10:44:23, calls out 10:44:32, steps to
back of nest 10:44:39 as D answers her call, another PS 10:45:05, moves back to
the eggs 10:45:29, rolls 10:45:51 & fluffs, snuggles back down 10:47:00.

digs a bit, then moves a stick 7:15:51; M fluffs the bole 7:16:00; D works on
the stick at the LB 7:16:15; D works on bole 7:17:40, M does too; M drags some

out BSD 8:26:14; Cam 1 reset 8:32. D in BSD 1:43:39pm; M in BSD 1:48:24; D
moves up to work on the front rail 1:55:36; M moves behind him as if to bolster
him up from the wind 1:55:52; D lays down 2:11:46, kicking his feet to snuggle
in; D stands up 2:15:52; Cam 1 reset 2:38; D to RB 2:50:50 & out 2:51:10; D
in BSD w/big stick 2:55:24; D goes another round with Twiggy 3:23:17; D calls
